I connected the painting to the Scarlet Letter, the town. I did this since the town is very small and word spreads fast, such as the case when Hester is accused of committing adultery. As well I connected it to the church being the center of attention saying what is right and wrong and who did this and that. In the left in the middle it is a little darker in that area and I connected that to the forest in the Scarlet Letter, where all the devils and witches live and pray on the weak hearted.
